In a magnanimous gesture last week, Todd Bachman, ran to the front row to fetch his daughter’s stepfather, Todd Cendrosky, so that they could both walk her down the aisle.
“He came and grabbed my hand and said: ‘You worked as hard as I have. You’ll help us walk our daughter down the aisle,'” Cendrosky recalled. “I got weak in the knees and lost it. Nothing better in my life, the most impactful moment in my life.”
The bride and guests were overcome with emotion, as they witnessed this compassionate example of co-parenting in a blended family.
Although Bachman and Cendrosky hadn’t always gotten along, extending the honour at the wedding just made sense to him: “For me to thank him for all the years of helping raise our daughter wouldn’t be enough,” he said. “There is no better way to thank somebody than to assist me walking her down the aisle.”
What a beautiful inspiration to all of us going through divorce!
