We all breathe together! All of life breathes together! The air I breathe out, is the same air you breathe in…, we are intimately connected. All of life is connected. And every action we take, every thought we think has a response. This is the law of the Universe. When energy is expended, it ripples outwards and creates something.

It is vitally important that we start taking responsibility for our actions and our thoughts. And we might pay more attention to this when we realise that; not only are we affecting that which we place our focus on, but we increase the vibration of that intention within ourselves. So in other words when we harbour a feeling of malice, hatred or anger regarding our partners/ex, we are storing all that dark, murky, polluted energy within our energetic field which then settles down into matter.  We make ourselves ill!

We have become a pill-popping, drug abusing generation because of our ignorance and our dissection of the self from the soul. Becoming ruthlessly truthful with oneself, acknowledging personal faults and harboured fears, and bringing it all up to the surface is essential for healing that which our heartache has caused. Baring our naked heart to be exposed to the burning all-knowing sun of the soul will bring us to tears, and it will be difficult. But… therein lies the treasure. What follows is forgiveness. Forgiving ourselves for the roles we have played, whether they be the victim, the adulterer, the abuser or the puritan; and forgiveness for the other follows.

Our conscience is the innate knowing of what is right. We all know quite naturally what is right and wrong. And it’s not about studying a book on ethics. The heart contains this knowing. The mind might get in the way and contradict the heart; but if we quieten our minds we will know where to find forgiveness. It is simply a choice. And forgiveness is freedom and the only way to true health, it allows us to grow and move forward on our life path.

Forgiveness practice

This practise contains a synergistic blend of calming and uplifting qualities. The suggested time frame is 28 days to fully immerse in this subject. Practise daily in a quiet environment on a yoga/exercise mat.

1 – Sit in a comfortable seated position. Notice your breath. Deepen your breath for 2 minutes. Now breathe into your heart and exhale, washing with intention over the heart. Breathe into the heart for 2 min.

2 – Move onto all 4’s. Place your hands directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips. With a flat back start to deepen your breath and truthfully admit to yourself how you are feeling about the subject of your judgement (ie. The person you need to forgive) while breathing into your solar plexus. Now:

  • On inhalation pull your belly to your spine and arch your back like a cat ready to pounce on it’s prey. Collect all your negative emotions with this inhalation.
  • On exhalation allow your back to curve in the opposite direction and release these emotions with the breath.

3 – Sit still for a while in contemplation before getting off your mat.

(It is a simple exercise, but try to really feel that raw emotion before you release it. Climb deep into the heart of your anger. You might even feel the need to exhale with a sigh or ‘growl’ a sound out of your mouth.)

Work with one of the following essential oils during this phase of your healing process: Bergamot (Citrus bergamia), Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) or Frankincense (Boswellia carterii). Always use pure and high quality oils. Do some research on the qualities of the oils and their contra-indications before choosing an oil. Use 1 or 2 drops in a base oil on your skin or in your bath water.
